The Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Free Library of Philadelphia, is part of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress (NLS), a free library program of braille and audio materials circulated to eligible borrowers in the United States by postage free mail.

In Pennsylvania, the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Philadelphia serves the eastern half of the state and the Carnegie Library for the Blind of Pittsburgh serves the western half of the state.

In addition, the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Philadelphia serves the entire Commonwealth, Delaware, and West Virginia with braille materials.

Are you interested in getting the local newspaper? Now you can. Newsline is a free telephone newspaper service that synthesizes print into voice for over 100 newspapers. The New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Wall Street Journal, and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette are some of the many newspapers available through this free service sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind. INFOEYES

LBPH is proud to announce our participation in a nationwide electronic reference program called InfoEyes. InfoEyes is a virtual reference and information service for people with visual impairments.

InfoEyes allows users to ask a librarian to help find information about absolutely anything! InfoEyes librarians can find the information you need. Visit the InfoEyes website to find out more and to try out the service!
